The second ever cook off at Kirkland was another too close to call event.....
I was disqualified for providing "store bought" appetizers. Still am hearing about that one....but really, appetizers have nothing to do with battle soup, so I still feel ok about it.
Amy fixed us up with some of her famous asaparagus soup.
Sommer made borscht.
Both were delicious and felt wonderful to eat since it is getting cold outside quickly. We love soup season.
Amy's was creamy and Sommer's had some kick. Too close to call.
Nick provided 2 kinds of bread for dipping in the soups courtesy of Macrina bakery on 1st Ave South. A lady there offered her 2 opinions on what to get.
Nick listened to her which seemed reasonable. One loaf was excellent and the other, not so much. Nick should take that loaf to the bakery and tell them to just discontinue production. Really.
The good bread had a piece that looked much like a whale....sort of.
Then like always, everyone chilled on the stairwell with the kittens.
When there is a super small area to climb into, no one is better then Mute at getting hidden in a closet, on a tuner or wherever no other living thing (sans bugs) in our house can fit. Seriously there is not a lot of space between those shelves and she is on top of a couple of flip flops.
