Hotter than a Motha'

Well as anyone who is in Seattle knows, yesterday if finally topped 100 degrees. It was ridiculous.
On a hot day when my car thermometer hit 105 for a second but was at 104 most of the day, what would be the best bet for lunch?

If you guessed hot, steamy, Vietnamese Pho during Jason and Anthony's "man-date" you are correct.
Stacy cool out there yo! And thanks to Jere for making me laugh 2 days ago when he texted me a great line from Ace Ventura 2, "pretty hot in these rhinos."

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal....or lack thereof

On Saturday July 25th, we went to our first Sounders game with Dad, Nicky D and Stephanie Keller (no relation to the Sounders' goalkeeper Kasey Keller).

The crowd was pretty crazy with these section long signs and some had the scarfs out during the cheers.
We saw lots of yellow cards and 2 red cards but unfortunately no goals which was quite lame. Oh well....no Seattle sports teams have scored so far Friday or Saturday, what should we have expected.
And tying 0-0 was super uncool. There needs to be overtime or penalty kicks or something because tying is just plain stupid. But going to the game did allow me to wear my Argentina soccer jersey of Gabriel Omar Batistuta. He was an awesome player on Nintendo 64 Fifa World Cup. Scored over 50 goals in a game with him and when I scored I said "Bati-gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal."

For real life highlights check out:

M's game July 24 2009

Well all I can say is "at least it was a nice night." On a sunny and warm Friday night, I went to the Mariners game with 3 friends:
Nicky D (check out the shoes), T. Mitch and Chris Burnisde.
We got bobblehead dolls in the image of Frankie G and had some beers and laughs. Unfortunately, we lost 9-0. Pretty sad. But we did see Hyphen (RRS) pitch, which was cool and he pitched pretty well overall.

New TV

Well, for anyone who has been to the house, you would notice that it was missing a big centerpiece for our family room. Many people even commented that what we had was a band-aid.....We had a 32" View Sonic (which we moved to the bedroom):

What we now have is a 55" LG LCD. Way better. Today I watched Felix and the Mariners beat the Tigers after Big Russell Branyan hit a 2 run HR in the top of the 8th inning. Now I am watching Transformers 1. Which on this TV with HDMI.....is F'ing amazing! Can't wait for your next visit. By the way, the installers were Signature Audio and Video. These guys were awesome. I gave the 2 guys some beer while they were over and they set things up for me like we were old buddies. Ok, off to watch the end of the movie and finish making chocolate brownies for Amy's bake sale at work to raise money for charity.

Our Friend Katie

We recently learned that our friend Katie has been hospitalized and is in a sedated coma. The long story short is that she was diagnosed with Swine Flu and had to be put into a coma for her health and the health of her unborn baby – Katie was 6 months pregnant. The baby, Abbey Gail, was delivered by Cesarean section and is doing well at last report. Katie is stable, but it has been a scary ordeal for their whole family and she is not out of the woods yet. Katie is a mother of two now, and we are worried about her. Our thoughts are with her and her family, and we ask that you send them positive energy as you read this, pray for them. For more information about her story you can visit this news article (http://www.komonews.com/news/local/51354942.html).

Again, we ask that you send your positive thoughts to Katie. We hope to be able to update this blog again really soon with some good news about the family’s prognosis.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

GEEZ!! Is it football season yet or what? I mean, come on! Who's ready to meet up before the game, get their drink on, and get over to the stadium just in time for kick off? I'll tell you who - she's the one in the green and white lei!
And who's the seahawk that returns every year? The most loyal Seahawk of them all? The only Seahawk who can actually fly, and does so at each home game... the first Seahawk onto the field...? Yep - it's TAIMA!!!
Are you ready for some football? Cuz I sure am!! And seriously, Matt, I know you strengthened your core and all, but if you don't stop playing like a pansy ( or a baseball pitcher / girly man ) I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it... Come on everybody - let's be healthy this year and play some effing FOOTBALL!!
YAY!

Happy Birthday Dad

On July 18th we celebrated Dad (Larry's) 53rd birthday. When the Benezra kids were growing up we always went to Snoqualmie Falls at the end of the summer. We hiked down from the lodge to the falls and hung out on the rocks. Well, the 8 of us (Larry, Debbie, Anthony, Amy, Jeremy, Selena, Jason and Taylor) all went again then went to Jak's in Issaquah for lunch. Clearly we all ordered way too much food, but that is what happens. By the way, they have Mamosa's, Man-mosa's and great bloody mary's.

1st post ever

We wish it was possible to start this blog 4 years ago...then all of the history would make sense....all of the pictures would be posted in order, and our OCD-ness of having everything already done would be in control, but we guess there is no way to change the past. Of course throughout this blog, we will refer to things and share pictures and bring you all up to date. But at least we can get this thing started with a list of a bunch of our favorite things in no particular order:

Giraffes, penguins, hugs, the Ayse's, sleep, the warmth of the sun, the Seahawks, the Mariners (we know who likes this more), our new house, our family, traveling, reading, Bravo/The Food Network, DVR, cheese, The Twilight Series (again, pretty obvious who, right?), Harry Potter, Caramel Machiatto's, Pirates, scarves, Cranes (the machine, not the bird), Nature Valley Sweet and Salty Peanut Granola Bars, Magic pants, Awce-cream, Hell's Kitchen, Anything that Bobby Flay does, air conditioning, Italy, Pho/Man dates, Nicky D, Bamboo Garden, Rose (faux) Chicken drumettes, Palomino Happy Hour, Captain Morgan's Private Stock Rum, vases, Tiffany Blue, Alias, hearing Jack say "pah-coo-say" and "mazing", cookies, Vanilla Sky Martinis from Palamino, red vine flavored salt water taffy, O.A.R., Dispatch, DMB, Coldplay, Transformers 1 & 2, Eddie (who will always be in our hearts), Palm Pre, Barrio, the Starbucks drive-thru by Costco (when you go there you really are in a different state), Moneyball, our old car the 2005 Acura MDX, our rockstar parking spot by Safeco Field/Seahawk Stadium, psb speakers, Norman's salsa, Papa's guacamole, playing tiles at Lynn and Norman's, Single malt scotch, Blueberry vodka, Crown, clarisonic, Burton, Venice, swimming, turtles, steam rooms, compartmentalized toilets, Enzo Angiolini high heels, comfy shorts, Duke basketball, the Cherry blossoms in the Quad in the spring, chapstick and of course our good health. This is just a small number of the things we cherish, and we will share more soon.
