Hawaiian Adventure - Part II

July 13th, 2013

After our crazy day at the beach, we avoided the ocean almost all together.  On Wednesday the 10th, we had a dress rehearsal in the morning and later attended a beautiful rehearsal dinner on the beach with friends and family.  The wedding was on Thursday the 11th and it was beyond words.  We'd do a post about it, but don't really have great photos to go with it.  When we do, we hope to insert something a little out of order.  But for now the highlight is that Jeremy and Samara are married and Samara is officially, legally, family.  We're so excited!

We stayed in Hawaii through Sunday the 14th.  During the rest of our trip we attended some other events with Jeremy, Samara, family and friends.  One night we had dinner with Josh and Kelly.  They were about to be married in August, so it was exciting to talk with them and be excited about their upcoming nuptials with them as well.  We managed to go to sushi dinner on our first night in Hawaii with Jason and Selena at Sansei and then the following night with some of Samara's family and a bunch of friends, but that still wasn't enough for us.  We also managed to order sushi to go one other day to get second helping of our favorites.

It isn't as pretty to go as it is at the restaurant, but this was one of our two favorite items.  You'll find it listed on the menu as simply:

Sunset  Ahi and yellowtail tuna topped with masago and uzura (quail egg yolk)

So delicious!  It seems like it could be gross, but if you can handle that sort of thing it was amazing!

But, we're getting ahead of ourselves.  Earlier that day we had breakfast in our room...

Then we headed to the pool for one last Hawaiian (safe) swim.  Xander had become obsessed with the elevator.  When he was outside of it, he liked to push the button to call the elevator (or press both the buttons).  The elevator was very slow, but we were on the 5th floor so it was worth it.  Xander didn't seem to mind too much.

Then, once we got into the elevator, Xander wanted to hit all the buttons for all the floors, open the doors, close the doors, call for help... so we resorted to blocking all the buttons with our body - you can see here that The Rock is not impressed..

We brought a boogie board to the pool with us.  Probably a no no in the condo rules, but it was the last day and we weren't too worried.  We managed to get Xander to ride the boogie board while we assisted him.

Yay!  Dada gives good boogie board rides!

Then it was Mama's turn to give a ride so Dada could take pictures.

And after positioning him juuuuust right...

Xander was floating on the board all by himself!

He wasn't even scared!

In fact, he liked it a little!

Eventually, we let him fall into the water (while Mama was right there) and prepared ourselves for the crying that would ensue...

And even when the crying stopped, the sad face did not...

But that's ok - we had another trick up our sleeves... Xander rides on the Dada on the boogie board!  Xander really loved the ride and how hard Dada could splash!

Then Mama had a turn with Xander - and she realized that Dada made this look easy and it was not.  Xander still seemed to have a good time though...

Mama found it easier to give Xander rides without the boogie board - you can't see from this angle, but Xander liked this approach too.  Yay!

After a long morning of swimming, and a bit of lunch, Xander was very due for a nap.  Dada was too, apparently, because he fell asleep trying to get Xander to sleep...

These boys were passed out fo sho!

While Xander was still napping, Mama and Dada snuck upstairs for a short visit to Samara and Jeremy's room.  Josh and Kelly were there killing time before their flight home - and that's a long flight from HI to NJ...

There was enough time for this group shot too...

And this shot with the newlyweds...

After his nap, Xander enjoyed some afternoon milk on the couch while sending some emails for work...

Mama managed to get a couple shots of Xander as he sat in her lap - these almost never come out.

The shot is a little fuzzy, but Mama really loves this smile!

Then, while Dada was working on something, Mama and Xander worked on our 1, 2, 3, JUMP game. Mama tried unsuccessfully to take a photo of Xander jumping until finally this one came out!  (ALL the others are blurry messes.)  You can see his left hand is off the table and both feet are off the ground.  Success!  Nice jumping, Xander!

It was a tiring trip, but overall it was a great experience and we'd never complain about spending time in Hawaii!  Thanks for the memories!
