Finally, floor in the workout room

As some of you have seen, our den/gym floor has been only subfloor since we moved in. Once we got the kitties, we put a bunch of moving pads down along with some cardboard to cover up the exposed floor and prevent the kitties from pulling up splinters of the pressed boards along with other debris that was found in the room including some nails and other interesting items... Here's a picture before the floor arrived... it's been almost a year that the floor has been like this...

Another shot of the room in action...

So, a little more backstory... why were we without flooring for so long? Well, we'd originally decided to do the floor ourselves, which was fine, but we had to order the floor first. Ultimately we tried to order it from a place who said they had it, but then it was on back order, and then they couldn't get the order, so we cancelled it, then ordered from somewhere else who got the floor in, but didn't have the right coating, so tried to have that corrected, but ultimately that fell through, and we were able to find the floor even cheaper and better from another source, who was great but took a while to get the floor to us... and finally when it anticipated to arrive, we were so pumped and made plans to install it that day.

The real hero of this story is Nick Davalos. Nick was gracious enough to volunteer his evening to come over after the floor arrived on a palette in our driveway and help us install the floor. And by help us install the floor, we mean help Anthony assemble our wetvac so Anth could clean up, then help carry each of the 85 pound tiles into the house and lay them all out... then ultimately make a joint decision with Anthony to relay each tile to make everything fit better, and get it all done right. He's also offered to help us find transition strips for the gaps in the floor... I mean, is this guy the real deal or not? And for this, he asks nothing in return and takes pizza and beer as payment. Nick, we owe you one big time, buddy!

Here is an action shot of the wetvac being assembled...

And here is the cheese pizza that Amy prepared for everyone... ok, so she ordered and picked up the take and bake cheese pizza and added some yummy toppings, but no mushrooms on Nicks half... and it was so tasty! Thanks to Nick, this was the heaviest lifting Amy had to do, and for that she is grateful because her back would have surely given out on those tiles...

Partway through the process, the little girl couldn't wait anymore... sorry gentlemen, but I've got some business to take care of... excuse me for a moment, would you?

Nick said, "wait a minute... is that the little girl in the little girls room?" You bet it is...

And here it is, the finish product! YAY! Eventually it will be the kitty / workout room... but for now we have an extra dining room table in there and only one work out machine... Anyone need a really nice table btw...?

Here's the view from the other side. It's so nice not to have all those blankets anymore, and the kitties appreciate it too... despite the fact that they smell like rubber now... it's ok, that will wear off soon :)
