Puerto Rico First Full Day

After getting lost for an hour trying to find Enterprise, we dropped off our rental car because it made a horrible noise only when turning left....not that it is such a huge deal or anything, and exchanged it for a Mitsubishi. Then we got lost trying to find a Radio Shack so we could get a much needed cord to watch DVD's in our condo. With Jason's friend's help, we found it. Then we stocked up on groceries and finally were hungry for lunch. Everyone felt like ceviche and it was delicous! Amy and Anthony shared a seafood ceviche and a Peruvian Mussel dish.

We ate with Jason's friend who lives in San Juan named Soli and her husband Roberto.

She then drove us along the beach to a Panneria/bakery. Note the on duty cops below....yep, tough job.

Heather thought this pink house was super cute. It was right across the street from the bakery.

We finally changed and went to the beach. It got dark pretty quick because we didn't make it out until after 4:30pm.

Jason enjoyed the Atlantic Ocean.

So did Amy! Note Heather standing.....

Not anymore.

Everyone was laughing (even Heather) since she couldn't quite get up in time before another wave came in.

Haha! Silly ocean. Atlantic 1, Heather 0. You'll also note that there are no sunglasses on Amy's head... yep, the ocean ate them. Atlantic 1, Amy 0.

Jason getting engulfed by a wave.

Jason all done for the day.

Cute.

We showered up, got in the car and ventured out to Old San Juan. Being that it is a long weekend (Presidents Day), everyone was out and about. We were in a traffic jam forever and finally ditched surface streets for the freeway. We of course got lost again until we found a killer street parking spot for free. We had a short walk to the Parrot Club (recommended by Stephanie and Google). Amy was told by Steph to order this special drink called a "caipirinha".

Anthony ordered a tasty drink called a Cocotini which even had coconut chunks on top.

Heather partook in a Pina Colada sin Alcohol. Jason sported a diet Coke.

We are gorgous BTW.

Jason got a chicken dish that looked awesome.

I ventured into new territory and got a Pumpkin filled Gnochi. Given the hatred of potato gnochi this was a test. And it was a tasty reward too.

Beautiful Heather ordered the same dish as Anthony.

And the purple princess Amy got the "Plantain encrusted dorado": Mahi Mahi con aji amarillo beurre blanc y peruvian potatoes. It was awesome for sure. Her favorite dish of the whole trip!

Yes, that is a keeper. It was Valentine's Day afterall...

Esta muy bien.

Here is the Mahi dish again. Sooooooooo delicous! Let's go back!!

It smelled outside the restaraunt, like bad, but it was very worth it. But the poop smell, we could do without...

We thought this store name was funny. Hard to see, but it says "Family Jewels"... Family Jews would have also been funny...

Here is an interesting tidbit of historical information. Viva la pina colada!!

Adios Parrot Club :( You will be missed :(
